The legal assistant and paralegal professions are among the fastest growing career fields in the United States. The legal assistant profession is projected to grow by 33% during the first 10 years of 2000, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Office of Employment Projections. Compared with other occupations, this is an above average growth rate. Legal offices, corporate human resources offices, insurance companies and banks are all highly interested in the utilization of trained legal assistants. Students graduating with a paralegal major will be prepared professionals to enter an expanding legal office management job market.
